Things From Today, 6/30

If i was a blog, i'd have existentialism crises.
Seriously though! I want to do Things From Today a favor and insert an ongoing plot or continuin story. But i'm too lazy for that, so i'll just continue to rant and yell at you about my day and good music.
:D
Okay, anyway. Today was...fucking boring. We have family friends from Germany visitng till early next week (they're here for my sistser's wdding). They're fine and all, and actually one of htem is 19 and mad chill, but my paretns made me go on a RUSSIAN NEW YORK CITY BUS TOUR wiht them today. SO MANY TOURISTS GAH! it was like DSLR heaven there today! I think the last time i was this bored in manhattan was when i went and saw "the Line" (horrid play, please don't see it). To make matters worse, i was fucking starving the whole time, cause we never ever stopped to eat, and also i fell asleep with my contacts and they got dry and i was blinded and it was pretty bad lol.

On a different note, when we went to the united Nations, i got to see a bunch of delegates so that was kinda cool. And also in the visitors area of the UN there were two sculptures, the tied up gun and the golden-italian-globey thing. Both were very cool. ALSO there was a rally going on outside for FREE TIBET and like China pull out and etc. it was pretty intense.

OH. From yesterday. Dan, Fred and I jammed out, and taht was pretty killer. We got some good base stuf for next time, and it might turn into something, dk. I learned diminished power chords, which sound awesome. They're like the non-perfect sounding notes in hardcore songs, between the palm muted guitar and the double bass.

I started a great new book. I occasionally take a weekish break from reading just because i don't find time. it kinda sucks. Anyway, "Dear American Airlines" is a crippling story about lost dreams and broken promises, all performed on the basis of a frustrated flier writing a letter to his negligent airline company. It's wonderfully written, hilarious, has a great flow, and he alternates two story lines (him in the airport bitching about the flight being delayed and his history) very well. This is soften a huge issue for me ( for example, The pact by Jodi Picoult: despite the other problems i have with it, she alternates her two setting so abruptly, and they seem so relevant to each other, that it gives off the appearance of being fake and harshly put together.) Next to read on my list: Me Talk Pretty One Day.

Other than like Dan, has anyone heard of Portugal. The Man? They're godly. Just, the driven guitar and the minor/blues pentatonic scales, along with a drum line that is both subtle yet complimentary, and raspy and refined vocals really ties this package up. I prefer Church Mouth to Waiter: You Vultures!, but thats just cause Church Mouth sounds more rocky, more rough and raw. Supposedly they have a leaked EP but i haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I'll get to it, as soon as i'm done wiht my "new music" playlist :D
btw, if you like this, listen to NIN.

Okay, well i'm off to photoshop, watch some TV, read a little, and then i'll go comatose for a few hours, hallucinate vividly, then suffer amnesia about the whole thing. Does anyone catch the xkcd reference? remind me to write about that comic.
oh my god my computer is being so fucking horrible. Like, I type a word and ten seconds later it appears on screen. This fucking sucks.

p.s. do you liek what i did with the blog? layout wise?
p.s.s.:i guess "Things from Today" is officially the title now huh?
p.s.s.s.: i'm probably gonna post this on blogger.com form now on too. i'll put up the link. (OHMYGOD IT'S LIKE DEJAVU).
peace&thelove forever!
